March 2020, whilst the planet is facing an unparalleled viral crisis, the company RELEAF bv is born.
January 2019, the RELEAF team is strengthened when Stef and Harm join forces with Sander. RELEAF is accepted for Climate KIC programme and the first projects are launched to demonstrate circular economy through local biomass hubs together with partners.
Winter 2019 RELEAF and it's partners Stad Gent, Agaris and Ilva were granted a Vlaanderen Circulair subsidy for their peatless pottery soil project.
In 2017, a doctoral thesis around the treatment of green waste was finalised. A proof of concept for alternative green waste process was demonstrated. Waste was turned into stable fibers and juice was turned into feed additives and fuel.
Eager to commercialise the research and change the way green waste is processed today, a track for research commercialisation is initiated in 2018.
The founders of RELEAF met at Ghent University at the faculty of Bioscience engineering. When in 2013 Sander initiated the research at Ghent University to find alternative technologies for green waste, the seed for RELEAF was planted.
